Puptown visitors – your help is needed in identifying the owner of a dog that attacked a cockapoo Saturday, Nov. 4, leaving the cockapoo gravely injured.
The incident took place around 2:15 p.m. Witnesses say a medium-sized brown pitbull attacked a 22-pound, tan cockapoo named Spike. The attack was unprovoked.
The pitbull’s owner, an unidentified woman with white hair who appeared to be in her 60s, left with her dog before exchanging information with the Spike’s owner.
Another dog owner is credited with saving Spike from the pitbull’s jaws; it is unknown whether this person was injured in the process.
Spike was rushed to a nearby veterinarian’s office and was treated for four puncture wounds. One wound came close to Spike’s heart.
According to witnesses, the pitbull was seen biting the heels of a dog owner before the attack.
If anyone has additional information, or knows the owner of the pitbull, please leave a comment here or contact Tommy O’Connor, co-leader of the P-DOG, the park’s advisory council.
At a minimum, Spike’s owner needs to know the vaccination record of the dog that attacked Spike. Thanks!
