A couple of weeks ago a thirty-five pound border collie escaped Puptown, ran onto Lake Shore Drive and was fatally hit by a car. In pursuit of a squirrel, the dog climbed over the protective mesh along the bottom of the fence and squeezed through the pickets.
The wire mesh has done a great job preventing small dogs and puppies from getting out of the park but everyone should be aware that dogs can still escape. Please watch your dogs carefully and if you think your dog is able to squeeze through the fence, use appropriate caution.
